Joel, my hoochmate, had left for the states a few days ago, not being successful in his efforts to take leave in Australia on the way home.
As far as the VC go, it has been fairly quiet around here, although the division is still doing it's search and avoid missions under General Ngi, as compared to the search and destroy missions earlier in my tour under General Minh (Not Big Minh).
Mostly, I was a bit nervous, hoping nothing would happen between now and 9 January 1969.
Oh, I finally got my assignment, to the Construction Equipment Division, Department of Mechanical and Technical Equipment, United States Army Engineer School, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Guess they really didn't know what to do with me.
NOTE: Several months ago I wrote "A Special Christmas in Soc Trang," which you can find, if you would, on the VVHP, at http://grunt.space.swri.edu/stclair.htm
ANOTHER NOTE: I have received several messages from you saying how much you liked my attempt at writing the chronicles of St. Clair in Vietnam, and one guy told me today he hoped I extended for six months. Fat chance, as he said. When I get back from Georgia, I'll have the last few episodes, which I hope will be informative and entertaining. Hint: I kinda go out with a bang!
EVERYONE HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS OR A HAPPY CHANUKKAH!
